2007 Annual CES Conference
Culture, Community and Social Justice in Evaluation – Do the Pieces Fit?

Home and program

Winnipeg, June 3 to 6, 2007

Join us in Manitoba for the Canadian Evaluation Society's 2007 National Conference! Experience Manitoba's cultural and geographic diversity. Winnipeg's French Quarter, the rich culture of our Aboriginal peoples, the haunting beauty of the prairies, and our inland seas provide the perfect setting for Conference 2007.

The Conference 2007 will provide evaluators and program managers from governments, post-secondary institutions, private practice, and the voluntary sector the opportunity to come together to discuss, debate and learn from each other. The Conference will offer an opportunity for formal and informal networking with colleagues and peers from a collage of sectors that include health, education, justice, the environment, economic and community development among others.

The theme of Conference 2007, Culture, Community and Social Justice in Evaluation – Do the Pieces Fit?, invites us to question how we understand and practise evaluation in relation to culture, community and social justice.

  • What do we need in order to be culturally competent in the Canadian mosaic and across the world?
  • How are we practicing appropriate and inclusive evaluation approaches?
  • How are local and global communities active in evaluation processes?
  • What are the opportunities and responsibilities for evaluators as the world struggles to deal with issues of human rights and social justice?

How do we navigate the complexities of our changing world and make the pieces fit?
