Dr. Donald Sharpe, Professor, University of Regina

June 3, 2007, 9:00am - 12:00pm - Introductory - 20 seats

The purpose of this training is to provide participants with an introduction to meta-analysis as a tool for evaluating the research literature. A brief history of the origins of meta-analysis will be provided. Comparisons will be made between traditional narrative reviews and meta-analysis, and advantages and disadvantages of both will be identified. Participants will be led through the steps in conducting a meta-analysis. This training has been designed for evaluators with an interest in meta-analysis and some background in statistics but no formal experience with meta-analysis.
